Compare
Ersona compared with Canary Technologies
PMS-neutral AI for hospitality. Ersona adds AI-powered sales, service and operations across the systems your hotel already uses.
Canary Technologies
A hospitality management system for branded and full-service hotels — mobile check-in, kiosks, mobile keys, upsells, digital tipping, checkout, authorisations and sales & catering — with Canary AI across phone, messaging and webchat.
Short answer
Canary is a full guest-management suite with AI inside it, proven at brand scale, including a telephony product that sits on your existing PBX and replaces the IVR. Ersona is a PMS-neutral layer for operators and independents: one agent across sales, service and operations, on the systems and channels you already run. The published system lists barely overlap, so many of these deals never actually meet.
One band: AI-answered guest conversations that read reservation context, sell add-ons at the right moment, escalate to staff and file the work. Independent and small-group properties on Cloudbeds — the one system both vendors publish — are the clearest head-to-head.
Choose Canary Technologies when…
The phone system itself is the project
Canary’s AI Voice integrates with your existing PBX and call-centre software and replaces the IVR, with front desk, central reservations, concierge and booking assistants behind it. If you are re-platforming how calls are answered across a portfolio, that is their home ground.
You’re a branded or full-service hotel
Their published references are Marriott, IHG, Four Seasons, Wyndham, Choice and Radisson, with dedicated brand-partner programmes behind several of them.
You want kiosks, keys, tipping, checkout and authorisations from one vendor
All are first-party Canary products, built and supported by one vendor.
Your PMS is Opera, Amadeus, Agilysys, Infor or similar
Canary publishes around forty PMS integrations, weighted to branded-hotel systems, and states a cadence of five to ten new integrations a quarter.
Choose Ersona when…
You run Hostaway, Guesty, Optima or MiniHotel
These are Ersona’s connections, with partnership agreements behind Guesty, Optima by Priority and MiniHotel and listings in their marketplaces. Cloudbeds is the one system both products publish, and booking runs through your own engine — WebHotelier included.
You want one agent across sales, service and operations
Not six product families to select from. A four-hotel group in Tel Aviv, 187 rooms, runs reservations, guest service and staff task management on Ersona.
You want your own instructions to set behaviour, channel by channel
The same hotel context sits behind phone, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, email and web chat, with different rules, automation, escalation and handoff wherever you want them.
You want to add a layer, not run a programme
Nothing migrates: your PMS stays the system of record, guests keep the channels they already use, and you can start on one property and roll out from there.
Different philosophies
The products are built around different questions.
- Product shape
- Canary TechnologiesA guest-management system with AI inside it — one of six published product families.
- ErsonaA single layer for sales, service and operations, running on the systems you already have.
- Who owns the touchpoints
- Canary TechnologiesCanary’s own check-in, kiosk, webchat and inbox.
- ErsonaYour existing channels, your PMS inbox, and a GuestApp you fill with your own commerce.
- Who buys it
- Canary TechnologiesA brand, management company or full-service hotel standardising one journey across many properties.
- ErsonaAn operator or small group changing how the work gets done, property by property.
What they have in common
- AI conversations with reservation context across phone, messaging and web chat
- Add-ons sold with a staff-approval step
- Answers in the guest’s language, with automatic translation
- A shared inbox, analytics and escalation to staff
- Both integrate with the PMS rather than replacing it
Worth being precise about
- Both products answer phone calls with AI, and they are shaped differently. Canary’s is built onto your PBX and replaces the IVR; Ersona treats voice as one channel among several, sharing rules and context with the rest. Which you need depends on whether the phone system or the guest workflow is the thing you’re changing.
Where Ersona is different
- 01
A different half of the market
Ersona’s connections are the short-term-rental, serviced-apartment and independent-hotel systems: Hostaway, Guesty, Optima by Priority, MiniHotel and Cloudbeds — plus the WebHotelier booking engine.
- 02
Instructions per property and per channel
Behaviour, automation, escalation and handoff are configured by the hotel, channel by channel, on one shared body of hotel knowledge.
- 03
Commerce the hotel composes
A GuestApp storefront the hotel builds: its own services and partner services, sequenced by stage of the stay and filtered by room type, each set to buy-now or approval-required.
What you keep either way
Your PMS. Your booking engine. Your data.
Nothing is migrated to work with Ersona: your PMS stays the system of record, your booking engine stays yours, and every conversation shows whether Ersona or a person owns it.

“It is working excellent — above my expectation. The AI understands context and handles guest requests naturally.”
Which fits your hotel?
Two honest answers.
Canary Technologies is likely the better fit for
Branded, full-service or franchise hotels standardising the whole digital guest journey across many properties — especially where the call centre and the phone system are in scope.
Ersona is likely the better fit for
Short-term-rental operators, boutiques, serviced apartments and independent groups on Hostaway, Guesty, Optima, MiniHotel or Cloudbeds who want sales, service and operations on one layer.
